Wild Irish Rose started small in a vintage shop in downtown Raleigh. We offered a few Irish and Celtic items but mostly vintage items. Soon word got out, and the demand began to grow for all things Celtic. Quickly, the Irish and Celtic items surpassed our non-Irish items. We also began to sell at local events and each one was and continues to be a huge success. So we kept at it and continue to enjoy bringing a wee bit of the Emerald Isle to North Carolina. In the mean time, Wild Irish Rose has changed locations from downtown Raleigh to North Raleigh. We are excited about our new location inside, Inspirations, (across from CarMax) at 8601 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC.
The owner of Wild Irish Rose, Joan Collins O'Keefe, is a native New Yorker, who moved to Raleigh in the 90s and loves pretty much everything about Raleigh and the surrounding area. She visits her family in New York in the Westchester County area from time to time. Joan also has deep Irish roots. Her mother grew up in the West of Ireland, about two miles from the village of Knock, County Mayo. Joan's mother moved here to the states when she was 17. Most of Joan's aunts, uncles and cousins still live in Ireland. Her paternal grandparents also grew up in Ireland before moving to New York. They were from County Mayo and County Clare, Ireland. So growing up and learning about her Irish heritage instilled in Joan a great appreciation and love of her Irish roots.
